You don't have to be an artist to be an art docent!

Art docents are volunteers who teach art in our elementary classrooms. There are no set requirements or qualifications, just a willingness to learn and teach. 

What is the Art Docent Program?
Our Art Docent Program provides an opportunity to introduce our students to the basic principles and elements of design, as well as a wide variety of art and artists in a fun and creative atmosphere.  Volunteers enrich the overall visual arts experience for students at Covington Elementary.

How long is a lesson, and what would I cover?
Lessons usually run about 45 minutes to an hour. Each lesson provides a chance to share a piece of art with students and explore one or two elements or principals of design. Then, you'll lead them through the process of creating great works of their own!
